Treatment Guidelines
- Antiretroviral Therapy: The IASUSA convened the 17-member panel of experts to update its recommendations for the use of antiretroviral treatment for adult HIV-1 infection. This panel's report appears in the August 21, 2006, issue of JAMA.
- Antiretroviral Drug Resistance Testing: The IASUSA has reconvened a panel of experts to update the published recommendations for antiretroviral drug resistance testing in adult HIV-1 infection. The panel's recommendations appear in the July 1, 2003, issue of Clinical Infectious Diseases.
- Metabolic Complications: The International AIDS SocietyUSA convened a panel of 12 experts to develop recommendations for the diagnosis and management of the metabolic complications of HIV and its therapies. This panel's report was published in the November 1, 2002, issue of J Acquir Immune Defic Syndr (2002; 31:257-275) and is available online at www.jaids.com.

Managing Editor
Overview
The Managing Editor manages the organization’s medical journal and selected editorial projects, oversees editorial policies and procedures for the editorial department, and trains and supervises editorial department staff as necessary. Reports directly to the Executive Director. In house preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Produce educational materials for physicians with balanced content and a high level of editorial quality while meeting project deadlines
- Manage content and production of Topics in HIV Medicine, a bimonthly medical journal for physicians
- Manage other selected editorial projects as needed, such as treatment guideline papers
- Correspond with authors, editorial board members, and peer reviewers, and manage peer review process
- Supervise copy editing and proofreading and edit manuscripts as needed
- Supervise copyrights and permissions for Topics in HIV Medicine
- Manage Topics in HIV Medicine’s budget, including identifying and obtaining grant support
- Assist in ongoing project evaluations and quality assurance measures
- Assist with the training and supervision of a small team of editorial and production staff and coordinate and manage freelance contributors, including graphic artists, medical writers, and transcriptionists
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of editorial experience in a medical or educational publishing environment
- Understanding of and experience with biomedical content and knowledge of American Medical Association style
- Demonstrated interest and familiarity with the HIV/AIDS epidemic
- Outstanding written English skills with detailed attention to accuracy of facts and documentation of sources
- Computer experience in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Quark
- Understanding of graphics software and print/mail processes
- Work extremely well under deadlines
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Experience with fundraising and grant writing a plus
Registration Supervisor
Primary Function
This position performs and supervises registration of live Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses. May supervise registration coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities
Managing all aspects of the registration process including:
- Process course registration forms and update information in MS Access database
- Hire and manage registration coordinator, temporary data entry staff as necessary, and temporary staff for onsite registration
- Prepare and send attendee correspondence, including responses to queries, and invitations, confirmations, and post-course letters
- Process registration credit card and check payments
- Oversee attendee on-site materials production including, CME certificates and name badges
- Work with project staff in coordinating course procedures and materials
- Manage registration process onsite
- Perform some meeting planning duties onsite
- Prepare and send Funder correspondence
- Prepare post-course registration reconciliations and payment reports
- Work with vendors to maintain database and purchase registration supplies
- Maintain registration filing system
- Work with vendors to maintain database and purchase registration supplies
- Post-conference course organization and report preparations
- Ensure IAS-USA compliance with current accreditation procedures
- Some office and reception duties
- Travel to live courses is required

CME Project Associate
Primary Function
This position produces and oversees Continuing Medical Education (CME) course materials and faculty communications. May supervise meeting coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities
Handles various project tasks as needed and course registrations not limited to:
- Organize chair/committee conference calls, draft conference call summaries and agendas
- Faculty and funder correspondence that includes invitation/confirmation emails, faculty syllabus materials and chair review, reminders for faculty travel and logistics, and post program letters
- Work on production and timelines for meeting materials, including brochures, course syllabus, broadcast emails, and signage
- Assist with meeting logistics including packing / shipping of materials, hotel, restaurant, travel, and other tasks as needed
- Oversee on-site updates to faculty presentations and related audiovisual components, audience response system question data entry and proofing
- Coordinate CME compliance for live and on-line CME activities, including calculating CME hours, creating archive binders or files
- Coordinate the Core Faculty project, including updating profiles
- Administrative duties including mailing, filing, and faxing
- Organize ongoing programs with other organizations
- Travel to live courses is required
Minimum Qualifications
- 4-year college degree
- Minimum 3 years in a professional office environment
- Knowledge of CME requirements and prior experience working on CME programs and production of meeting materials
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Registration Coordinator
Primary Function
This position performs works on registration duties such as data entry, registration payment processing, and report production. May also work on general program logistics and tasks related to CME programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Handles various project tasks as needed and course registrations not limited to:
- Perform data-entry in Access database including but not limited to course registrations, name and address changes, fulfillment orders, online CME program registrations, etc.
- Review registration forms for incomplete information, etc.
- Process registration payments
- Assist with formatting word processing, and proofing or course materials
- Assist in maintenance of registration filing system and Access database by system-compacting, daily back-ups, etc.
- Assist in preparation of reports needed for special projects using MS Access database
- Fulfillment of requests for Resistance Mutation cards, Topics in HIV Medicine publications and various guidelines.
- Assist with post-course organization and reports
- Assist with various project tasks as needed such as preparing mailings and course binders, packing/shipping course materials, organizing educational materials, and researching/soliciting estimates for vendors such as temporary onsite registration staff
- Update internal CME program documents
- Perform other duties as assigned, including some office and reception duties
- Travel to live courses may be required

Web Content Coordinator
Web Content Coordinator works closely with other members of the Editorial Department within set deadlines to provide administrative support, copy editing and proofreading on various projects/materials including course registration, publicity, and other course materials, organizations’ journal/reference library, and project management assistance on special projects. This position corresponds with chairs and faculty for content review and changes.
The Web Content Coordinator will also be responsible for the online educational programs including Cases on the Web (COW), Webcasting/Podcasting of live CME courses, and the organization’s web site.
Major Accountabilities
Results expected of job:
- Timely posting of webcast, podcast, and online CME activities
- Improved copy and flow of organization’s web site
- Set and meet editorial projects’ deadlines
- Organized, up-to-date files for editorial department.
- Clean and up-to-date journal and reference library.
- Accurate proofing and editing of copy
Activities to achieve results (Note: these are general activities required of the position. Others may be required.)
- Work with expert faculty to develop online CME activities
- Work with Projects team to track faculty permissions for webcasts and podcasts

- Maintain journal and reference library
- Provide copy editing and proofreading help as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- 4 year college degree
- Project management experience
- Knowledge of HTML and PHP/MySQL preferred

- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and to take initiative in problem solving

Experienced A/P clerk for non-profit organization. One or two days per week; long-term position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Matching and coding invoices
- Entering bills

- Creating and entering deposits and credit card transactions
- Delivering to bank.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience handling Accounts Payable for a small company.
- Excellent knowledge of QuickBooks
- Computer experience in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills
- Extremely accurate, organized, close attention to detail
- Non-profit experience a plus.
